Social media laughs off rumor that Harbaugh’s NFL return offers opportunity for Kaepernick

The return of Jim Harbaugh to the NFL has led to the rumor he might be bringing his former quarterback Colin Kaepernick with him.

Harbaugh, who has agreed to take on the role as the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, coached the former NFL quarterback-turned-activist Kaepernick on the San Francisco 49ers, and the two even made it to Super Bowl XLVII.

The notion that Harbaugh would bring on the now-36-year-old, who has not taken a snap in over seven years, stems from that relationship, and what Kaepernick would do for Harbaugh is up for debate.

Kaepernick has made numerous indications he desires to play, but the idea that he would be able to enter the depth chart as anything more than a backup is not a probable one.

More likely, but still largely unrealistic, is the idea that Kaepernick could sign on to a coaching role and replace Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator.

Whatever the role, social media does not appear to be receptive to a Kaepernick return to the NFL.

“Can we just give up on Kaepernick,” one user commented on X. “I’m over it.”

“Left wing sports media’s love for Colin Kaepernick is more intense than any fan base’s love for any athlete on the planet. Truly,” OutKick founder and radio host Clay Travis wrote.

“Last time Kaepernick played a game I was a freshman in high school,” according to one user.

“I graduated college already.”

“I speak for everyone when I say … shut the f*** up about Colin Kaepernick,” another post read.
