E. Jean Carroll says she will go on a shopping spree with $83.3 million she won from Trump

E. Jean Carroll claimed Monday night that she and her lawyers would be going on a shopping spree with the $83.3 million she won from her case against former President Donald Trump.

Carroll, a former advice columnist for Elle magazine, was asked in an interview what she is planning to do with the money she won from her case. Trump was ordered on Friday to pay $83.3 million to Carroll in a defamation lawsuit that stemmed from his denial of her claim that he raped her in the mid-1990s.

“I have such, such great ideas for all the good I’m going to do with this money,” Carroll said on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show. “First thing, Rachel, you and I are going to go shopping. We’re going to get completely new wardrobes, new shoes, motorcycle for Crowley, new fishing rod for Robbie.”

Carroll also offered Maddow a penthouse and a fishing trip to France, eliciting laughter from the MSNBC host. Maddow then joked that she would take up her offer to France if fishing in the country would “do something for women’s rights.”

Maddow also asked Carroll if she would be interested in suing Trump again should he resume referring to her as a liar, to which Carroll said, “Absolutely.”

“And I am more than willing to do it again because we achieved so much in a seven-day trial,” Carroll said. “We did what people thought was impossible. We beat Donald Trump.”

The nine-person jury found Trump should pay $65 million in punitive damages to Carroll, along with $18.3 million in compensatory damages for emotional harm and other damages. The former president said he would be appealing the verdict in a statement, as well as “this whole Biden Directed Witch Hunt.”

Trump is running for president again in the 2024 presidential election, setting the stage for a rematch between him and President Joe Biden. Carroll said in a Monday interview that the Biden campaign has yet to contact her about any campaign work she could do for Biden but said that she would do “everything I can” to prevent Trump’s return to the White House.
