In a Valentine’s Day letter to former first lady Melania Trump, former President Donald Trump praised her unwavering support for him during the indictments he labeled “witch hunts” while asking his supporters to “send her your love” through their own letters and cash donations.
The love letter was made public by the Trump Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, which raises money for Trump’s campaign.
“Dear Melania, I LOVE YOU! Even after every single INDICTMENT, ARREST, and WITCH HUNT, you never left my side. You’ve always supported me through everything,” Trump wrote in the Valentine’s Day letter put out by the committee. “I wouldn’t be the man I am today without your guidance, kindness, and warmth. You will always mean the world to me, Melania!”
The letter continued by encouraging those who also “love” Melania to “leave kind words below” by clicking the “send your love” button, which directs people to a website where, in order to send a message, they must also submit a donation between $20.24 and $3,300.
As of 1:30 p.m. EST, the website shows 87,528 donations with a goal of 100,000.
The letter references Trump’s four criminal trials as “witch hunt[s],” which are ongoing. He is currently awaiting the decision in his civil fraud trial in which the New York AG is seeking $370 million in fines, which could come at any time.
Trump is set to appear this week in a hearing in New York state’s court regarding his first indictment, a criminal hush money case brought against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley took it upon herself to mock Trump in her own tongue-in-cheek Valentine’s Day messages, which she penned to world dictators from Trump.
“Happy Valentine’s Day from Donald Trump to dictators around the world! Over the years, Trump has professed his love for the world’s most brutal dictators and praised their strength and leadership skills,” Haley’s campaign wrote in a statement, per the New York Post.
