White House fires back at Haley for ‘crystal ball’ prediction of Biden dropping out – Washington Examiner

The White House has mocked former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley for speculating President Joe Biden will not be the Democratic nominee in “30 days.”

“I cannot speak to Nikki Haley’s, I don’t know, magic ball that she may have or whatever it is that she’s trying to predict,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Thursday. “The president is obviously — you know his intentions for 2024.”

“I’m not sure what crystal ball she’s looking at, but it’s not the one we have,” she said.

Before next week’s South Carolina Republican primary, Haley told a crowd in Orangeburg last weekend that her “bet” is, in “30 days from now,” Biden is not “going to be the nominee,” particularly after special counsel Robert Hur‘s report into his handling of classified documents.

“We all saw he didn’t want to do the interview tonight before the Super Bowl,” she said last Sunday. “I wish him well, I do, but this is serious.”

“You’re going to have a female president of the United States,” she added. “It’s either going to be me or it’s going to be Kamala Harris.”

While it is more likely that Haley will not be her party’s nominee in 30 days after South Carolina and Super Tuesday, she and former President Donald Trump have underscored Biden’s age and mental acuity after Hur’s report. In it, Hur explained that he declined to prosecute Biden, in part, because a jury could find him “a well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory,” with the president not remembering when his son Beau died.

“There’s even a reference that I don’t remember when my son died. How in the hell dare do they raise that?” Biden said afterward. “Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself, was it any of his damn business? I don’t need anyone to remind me when he passed away.”
