Biden hammers Trump in New Hampshire on tax cuts and entitlements – Washington Examiner

President Joe Biden campaigned in swing-state New Hampshire, where he again levied 2024 campaign attacks against former President Donald Trump and Republicans for allegedly seeking to cut taxes for the wealthiest people and shrink benefits programs.

Earlier in the day, Biden published his budget request for fiscal 2025, which the White House claimed will reduce healthcare costs for families while reducing the federal deficit.

In New Hampshire, the president’s remarks focused on managing prescription drug prices, adding that the GOP would allegedly raise costs for families by renewing the Trump-era tax cuts, possibly rolling back Obamacare, and shrinking federal benefits programs.

“Many of our Republican friends want to put Social Security and Medicare back on the chopping block again,” Biden claimed. “If anyone tries to cut Social Security, Medicare, or raise the retirement age again, I will stop them.”

“We’ve got to tell people what we want to do and hope that they figured out what is going on with the last guy just gets repeated because if he gets elected, he’s publicly stated he’ll try to repeal every single thing we’ve done so far,” he continued. “Fifteen million new jobs, 800,000 manufacturing jobs, I could go on and on. People still need help. They still need help, those folks sitting around the kitchen table. They still need some help on day-to-day things. We’re going to work on those as well.”

White House officials claimed Biden’s policies won’t raise taxes on households earning less than $400,000 per year, but they stressed, as in years past, that the wealthiest people and companies must be forced to pay their “fair share.”

“Congressional Republicans don’t tell you what they cut, who they harm,” White House Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young told reporters earlier in the day. “The president is transparent and detailed. Every way he shows he values the American people.”
