The View host says ‘normalcy is back’ at the Oscars: ‘That dog was better behaved than Will Smith’ – Washington Examiner

The View co-host Ana Navarro suggested that Sunday night’s 96th Academy Awards was an example of the award ceremony getting back to normal.

Navarro’s comment on Monday referenced the dramatic 2022 incident of actor Will Smith slapping comedian Chris Rock for snarky remarks about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.

“I thought it was pretty ho-hum but good. Nobody got slapped. It was like, ‘OK, normalcy is back,’” Navarro said.

Co-host Sunny Hostin commented about the border collie in attendance named Messi from the nominated film Anatomy of a Fall, and Navarro compared Smith to the dog.

“That dog was better behaved than Will Smith,” Navarro joked.

The award show was hosted by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who featured a lot of jokes about the nominated films Barbie and Oppenheimer. He also took a jab at former President Donald Trump, who roasted his hosting abilities on social media.

Kimmel took shots at another Republican, Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL), when speaking about Emma Stone’s Oscar-nominated role in the film Poor Things. He suggested that the actress played “an adult woman with the brain of a child.”

“Like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union,” Kimmel said.

The Oscars also featured some nudity from actor John Cena, and actor Al Pacino flubbed the presentation of Best Picture by announcing Oppenheimer as the best film before listing the other nominees.

Actor Ryan Gosling stole the Oscars show with an impassioned and humorous rendition of “I’m just Ken” from the Barbie movie, and the song featured Slash from Guns N’ Roses, along with a singalong with Barbie director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie.
