Record-setting family series The Wingfeather Saga announces second season – Washington Examiner

The makers of The Wingfeather Saga announced the release dates for season two of the animated series.

The Wingfeather Saga is based on the bestselling and award-winning fantasy book series by Andrew Peterson and is distributed by Angel Studios. The series’s first season was released in December 2022 following a record-setting crowdfunding venture that made the show’s production possible.

Angel Studios CEO Neal Harmon and The Wingfeather Saga executive producer J. Chris Wall announced that episode one of the show’s second season is set to be released on April 5, with six additional episodes released weekly, to those who are part of the Angel Guild, which is a paid membership group who receives first access to Angel Studios’s content as a result of investing in the studios’s projects. Members are also given the opportunity to provide feedback in the making of the projects.

“We’re figuring out a new model,” Harmon said. “Not only are we reducing the negative impact of media on children, but we’re shaping the future of the film industry.”

Harmon shared that he hears from industry professionals who tell him how difficult and “broken” the system is but tout the Angel Studios’s model of having consumers invest in projects.

“As we succeed, there will be more filmmakers who come to that model,” Harmon said. “If they copy what Chris [Wall] is doing with Wingfeather to where we have more great kids and family content, that’s a win for all of us.”

General access to season two’s episodes will be announced this summer.

Wall said season two will feature the majority of the storyline found in Peterson’s second book, adding that season three, which has already begun production, is based on the ending of the novel series’s second book.
