Leftist politicians’ meltdown over Trump’s automotive ‘bloodbath’ remark – Washington Examiner

Leftist politicians and media figures appeared to have a meltdown after former President Donald Trump said there would be a “bloodbath” if he is not elected in November.

Trump was speaking at a rally in Ohio on Saturday and criticized that the auto industry in the United States has been crippled under President Joe Biden, stating Mexico and China have gained a serious foothold in automobile manufacturing.

“If you’re listening, President Xi, and you and I are friends, but he understands the way I deal. Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you’re gonna sell the cars to us, no!” Trump said in front of his supporters.

“We’re gonna put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not gonna be able to sell those cars. … Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath. … That’ll be the least of it.”

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, The View’s Ana Navarro, and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki slammed Trump for his remark.

“He’s talking about a bloodbath for America. It’s laid out in the terms of it, and these idiots on Twitter, these idiots on cable news, these idiots on Sunday shows, going, ‘Well, presidents, you know, he was talking only about the auto industry, and this is one more.’ It’s just bulls***!” Scarborough said on Monday’s episode of Morning Joe.

“Let me say that at 6:15 a.m. It’s just bulls***,” he continued. “He knew what he was doing. We’re not stupid. Americans aren’t stupid. He was talking about a bloodbath … sometimes a bloodbath means a bloodbath.”

Clinton, whom Trump defeated to claim the White House in 2016, also chimed in on X.

“‘A bloodbath.’ What would you say if you saw this in another country?” Clinton posted. She then turned off the comment function on her post.

Remarks such as “bloodbath” are why Navarro will never stop caring about what Trump says, The View co-host said.

“I think we’ve learned that words matter,” she said. “We’ve already seen what Donald Trump’s words are capable of, who they’re capable of triggering. We have seen Jan. 6. We have seen that he’s led an insurrection.”

Democrats are not taking Trump’s “bloodbath” remark out of context because his history speaks for itself, she said.

“I will never forget, and I think we have to remember it over and over again … the 23 people that were killed in the Walmart in El Paso because a white supremacist was triggered by words like ‘invaders’ by wanting to go target people who look like me and probably sound like me, even though 13 of them were Americans like I am,” according to Navarro.

Psaki appeared to share Navarro’s sentiment.

“This embrace of political violence, this dehumanizing language, this is what Donald Trump has been preaching for years,” she said.

“We did not miss the full context. This was not an off-message comment. This IS his message.” Jen Psaki explains why Trump’s “bloodbath” comment was not taken “out of context” at all, it’s the exact message he wants the MAGA cult to hear. (Video: MSNBC) pic.twitter.com/anP0HjzmIk

“In January, he warned there will be ‘bedlam’ in this country if his criminal prosecution derailed his campaign. Late last year, he echoed the dehumanizing language of Adolf Hitler, comparing his political opponents to ‘vermin’ and saying immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country.”

Psaki argued that Trump’s alleged allusions to violence are not rhetorical.

“His supporters take that literally,” she said. “That’s part of the big problem here, and he knows that, too.”

Trump later took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to react to the Left’s twisting of his words.

“The Fake News Media, and their Democrat Partners in the destruction of our Nation, pretended to be shocked at my use of the word BLOODBATH, even though they fully understood that I was simply referring to imports allowed by Crooked Joe Biden, which are killing the automobile industry. The United Auto Workers, but not their leadership, fully understand what I mean. With the Electric Car Mandate being pushed by Biden, there soon won’t be any cars made in the USA — UNLESS I’M ELECTED PRESIDENT, IN WHICH CASE AUTO MANUFACTURING WILL THRIVE LIKE NEVER BEFORE!!! MAGA2024,” he wrote.
