Billionaire investor expects to vote for Trump due to Biden’s ‘scary’ mental condition – Washington Examiner

Billionaire investor Nelson Peltz shared that he is leaning toward voting for former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden this November, citing Biden’s mental ability to serve as president.

Peltz, the founder of the $10 billion investment firm Trian Partners, said he will “probably” vote for Trump in the election, though he stressed he was “not happy” about such a decision.

The investor had supported Trump ahead of the 2020 election but withdrew his support the day after the Jan. 6 Capitol protest, saying he regretted supporting the former president.

Despite this, Peltz argued that Biden’s “really scary” mental condition was a bigger concern to him than the Capitol riot. Biden’s age, 81, has been discussed by many as a possible detriment to both the president’s ability to perform his duty as well as his ability to get reelected.

“I don’t know what he knows and I don’t know what he doesn’t know,” Peltz said. “I don’t know who’s speaking for him and that’s troubling.”

Additionally, Peltz said he was shifting toward voting for Trump because of the United States’s current level of immigration, suggesting “we can’t go on letting everyone into this country.” The billionaire argued that the topic of immigration should be bipartisan, and that the U.S. needs “some boundaries” on immigration.

Peltz also said he is not ready to help Trump financially ahead of the election, adding that he and the former president have not spoken “in quite a while,” despite being neighbors in Palm Beach, Florida. Last year, Peltz donated to Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC) presidential campaign prior to its suspension. He also donated to both Republican and Democratic candidates in the 2022 midterm elections.

The Trian Partners founder is not the only billionaire who is critical of Biden while withholding financial aid to Trump, as billionaire and X owner Elon Musk said earlier this month that he would not donate money to either presidential candidate. In an interview released Monday, Musk said that he would potentially give an endorsement “in the final stretch” of the election, while also saying he was leaning away from supporting Biden.
