There’s been a debate over the political realignment following Donald Trump’s ascendance in 2016: Republicans, for the most part, cheerfully embrace their new working-class coalition, while Democrats, for the most part, simply blame racism and the whole gauntlet of “phobias.” But there’s a new realignment underway that takes all the wind out of Democrats’ sails.
