Great American Family partners with Museum of the Bible for Easter programming – Washington Examiner

Great American Family will have a multitude of films and specials set to release in time for the Easter holiday, including a televised play and a special from the Museum of the Bible.

Bill Abbott, the CEO and president of Great American Family, explained that the media company is “very focused” on Easter, with its cable channel and streaming platform, Great American Pure Flix, providing a number of options for the Christian holiday. The network has made a name for itself in recent years, positioning itself as a conservative alternative to other movie channels such as Hallmark and Lifetime.

“We have original content as well, with The Passion play, which will air Good Friday, along with the Museum of the Bible special, which is The History of Easter,” Abbott told the Washington Examiner. “Both of which we’re very proud of and we have a movie produced by Candace Cameron Bure called Just in Time that stars Lauren Osnes that’s a wonderful journey of redemption and details a lot of the things that people experience through having a child and through their marriage.

Abbott went on to describe Great American Family’s Easter lineup as “really robust,” attributing the schedule to the company’s commitment to releasing content promoting faith and family during Holy Week.

The network also worked with the Museum of the Bible, based in Washington, D.C., on The History of Easter. The special, narrated by Christian musician Matthew West, will premiere at 5 p.m. EDT on Good Friday.

The museum previously collaborated with Great American Family on a Christmas special last year. Abbott is hopeful there will be more collaborations in the future.

Meanwhile, Bure is also set to star in a new mystery film series, Ainsley McGregor Mysteries, in the same vein of the Aurora Teagarden film franchise she did with Hallmark. Episodes are scheduled to begin airing on Great American Family on May 6.

Great American Family also recently announced the addition of Access Hollywood host Mario Lopez, who signed a multiyear deal with the network. His first project will be a Christmas film starring him and his wife, which will be released later this year.
