President Joe Biden sparked outrage online when he proclaimed March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility on Friday. This year, Easter Sunday falls on that day.

A number of prominent political figures have voiced their concerns with Biden’s proclamation, claiming the president has “canceled” or “replaced” the holiest day of the year for Christians with Transgender Day of Visibility.

In reality, Biden did not choose March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility, as it began in 2009. It was founded by the executive director of Transgender Michigan, Rachel Crandall-Crocker. Biden will also continue to celebrate Easter Sunday with an annual Easter statement and the Easter Egg Roll hosted on the White House’s South Lawn.

Still, that didn’t stop some from expressing their discontent at the proclamation.

“Biden REPLACES Easter Sunday with Transgender Day of Visibility,” Ex-transgender influencer Oli London posted on X. “The Democrat leader issued a new proclamation on Good Friday to observe a special day for trans people, that falls on Easter Sunday.”

Another prominent conservative account wrote that Biden is “cancelling Easter and making it a trans day.”

“Biden declares Easter a ‘trans day of visibility,’” Cynical Theories co-author James Lindsay posted. “This fits perfectly if you actually read the Woke literature and accept that the Democratic Party is completely captured. See Freire explaining that the true Easter is the rebirth into critical consciousness. Woke is a cult.”

Lindsay further called Biden’s proclamation an “intolerable” insult to the Christian faith, a “deliberate provocation against Christians,” and “overwhelmingly likely aiming to feed into those prevailing active measures (‘ops’) meant to drag Christians into a positions of fruitful reaction that the Regime can use to clamp down on them” in a longer post addressing the “dynamic” behind the announcement.

He also claimed the administration is “aware that they are making this proclamation specifically about Easter Sunday, even though Easter is not specifically mentioned in the proclamation” because the White House press release page shows “an Easter bunny by the White House.”

The Easter Bunny in question appears on every page, including the homepage, of the official White House website — not just the Briefing Room page.

Daily Wire reporter Megan Basham said, “The Biden White House has declared Easter Sunday ‘trans visibility day.’ No. It is resurrection day. We will not bow to the new gods of your new religion.”

Biden proclaimed March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility in 2021, 2022, and 2023 before his controversial 2024 announcement.

This Easter will mark the third time the holy day will have fallen on March 31 since 2000, including in 2002 and 2013. It will fall on March 31 again twice more this century, in 2086 and 2097.
