Tlaib accuses Israel of deliberately killing seven aid workers in Gaza: ‘Don’t look away’ – Washington Examiner

“Squad” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) accused Israel on Tuesday of deliberately killing seven humanitarian aid workers in an airstrike.

Tlaib told viewers not to “look away” from her social media posts, which showed images of a car that was allegedly badly damaged from the airstrike, and images of the World Central Kitchen workers who were killed.

“The Israeli government knew that humanitarian workers were in this vehicle,” Tlaib wrote on Instagram, next to an image of the vehicle. “Don’t look away. The government of Israel killed seven humanitarian workers (a war crime). They knew the coordinates of the workers and used it to kill them.”

The seven workers were killed in an airstrike late Monday after handing out food to Palestinians in Gaza. The group’s vehicle was hit by the strike despite Israel allegedly knowing where the convoy would be. WCK said it coordinates its aid efforts with the Israel Defense Forces beforehand.

Israel has admitted that it hit the vehicle by mistake and said it was reviewing the situation to make sure it does not occur again.

Israel deeply regrets the tragic incident which claimed the lives of seven humanitarian aid workers.

Our hearts go out to their families and to their home countries.

The IDF is conducting a swift and transparent investigation and we will make our findings public.

“Unfortunately, on the last day, there was a tragic event of our forces unintentionally hitting innocent people in the Gaza Strip,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement. “This happens in war; we are checking thoroughly, we are in contact with the governments, and we will do everything to prevent this from happening again.”

The aid workers were from Poland, the United Kingdom, Australia, and one person held dual citizenship with the United States and Canada.

Tlaib also slammed the Biden administration on Tuesday for not standing against Israel in its war with Hamas. Tlaib has been a harsh critic of both Israel, and President Joe Biden, for not calling for a ceasefire and for sending more funding and resources to Israel.

“Biden won Wisconsin by 0.63% in 2020,” Tlaib wrote on Instagram. “The [Biden campaign] would rather lose to an indicted criminal, twice impeached candidate than say no to genocide.”

Biden has been losing support among young voters for his administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war. At least 1-in-5 Democratic voters in Wisconsin have said that the war in Gaza will contribute to their votes in the state primary on Tuesday, according to the Intercept.
