Jamaal Bowman trailing Democratic opponent by 17 points: Poll – Washington Examiner

Rep. Jamaal Bowman‘s (D-NY) hopes of being elected to another term could be fading fast, according to a new survey, which finds him facing a double-digit deficit.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer leads Bowman by a 52-35% margin, according to pollster Mark Mellman.

Mellman hails from the Democratic Majority for Israel, an organization with a PAC that has endorsed Latimer over Bowman. It has offered endorsements to Bowman’s fellow New York Democrats, including Reps. Tom Suozzi, Hakeem Jefferies, Dan Goldman, and Ritchie Torres among others.

This poll comes after Bowman issued a scathing criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a “maniac” who “needs to be removed,” the lawmaker said. Bowman has long called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas since the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel. The poll found that over 60% of the district is for the United States offering more support to Israel.

Bowman was also censured last year after pulling a fire alarm in the Capitol. The representative pleaded guilty to the charge, issued an apology to Capitol Police, paid a $1,000 fine, and spent three months on probation.

The Washington Examiner reached Bowman’s campaign for comment.
