Trump taunts Biden with call for drug-tested debate – Washington Examiner

Former President Donald Trump reiterated his call to debate President Joe Biden ahead of their November rematch before alleging without evidence the president was “higher than a kite” during his State of the Union speech earlier this year.

“I don’t know what he’s using, but that was not, hey, he was higher than a kite,” Trump said during an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday morning. “And by the way, it was the worst — it was the worst address I’ve ever seen, the State of the Nation.”

Trump originally said he hoped Biden would debate him before turning to previous reports that the Secret Service found cocaine at the White House last summer. There is no evidence that Biden was the owner of the cocaine or that the president has used drugs while serving in office.

The former president then claimed that debates with Biden “should be drug tested. I want a drug test.”

Trump also taunted Biden to debate him during a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

“As you can see, we have an empty podium here, right? To my right. That’s for Joe Biden. I’m trying to get Joe to debate,” Trump said at the rally. “I’m calling on Crooked Joe to debate any time, any place. We’ll do it any way you want, Joe, so that we can discuss, in a friendly manner, the real problems of our country, which are many.”

Trump’s willingness to face Biden on the debate stage comes after the former president snubbed all GOP primary debates, often counterprogramming the debates with events of his own.

Biden has not committed to debating Trump, but that could change as the general election matchup grows closer. The president previously told reporters that his stance on debating Trump “depends on his behavior.”

In the Hewitt interview, Trump also commented on the Israel-Hamas war, claiming that if he were president, the Oct. 7 surprise attack against Israel would not have occurred.

“Oct. 7 would have never happened. They never ever would have been attacked. But it is what it is, and this horrible thing happened,” Trump said. “And what I said very plainly is get it over with, and let’s get back to peace and stop killing people. And that’s a very simple statement. Get it over with. They’ve got to finish what they finish.”

Trump also blasted Biden as an “idiot” and “the dumbest president we’ve ever had.”

Criticisms against Israel have ratcheted up after seven World Central Kitchen workers were struck and killed in an airstrike by the Israel Defense Forces while delivering food in Gaza.

It does not appear that Biden is willing to change his stance on providing support to Israel without stipulations despite the growing backlash and Biden’s own frustrations.
