Trump deletes Biden’s 8-point lead in New Hampshire with RFK Jr. in the mix: Poll – Washington Examiner

Former President Donald Trump is neck-and-neck with President Joe Biden in New Hampshire in a new survey, erasing a lead of as much as 8 percentage points earlier this year.

An NH Journal poll released Monday shows Trump narrowly leading Biden, 36.6%-36.5%, with independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. trailing behind the two with 14.6%. The figures are a dramatic tightening from a USA TODAYBoston Globe-Suffolk University poll in January that showed Biden leading Trump 42%-34% with Kennedy at 8%.

While Trump has a narrow advantage over Biden in the survey conducted from Wednesday to Monday, it is within the margin of error of plus or minus 3.33 percentage points, but it still highlights another lackluster poll for the president.

The survey shows Trump leading Biden among all age groups, except those 65 and older. Among party preference, Kennedy is taking more from Democrats, 11.2%, than from Republicans, 6.6%, as the independent candidate’s campaign has been a source of concern for both Biden and Trump.

Among independents, Biden, Trump, and Kennedy all have roughly the same percentage of voters, with Biden having a plurality of 27.5%, followed by Trump with 24.2%, and Kennedy with 23.2%. Also included in the survey are a significant number of registered voters who said they don’t plan on supporting any of the candidates, 12.4%, a number that includes 25.1% of independents.

Trump came within less than 3,000 votes, or roughly 0.4 percentage points, of winning New Hampshire in 2016 but lost to Biden in 2020 by roughly 60,000 votes, or nearly 7.5 percentage points. The state is considered “likely Democratic” by the Cook Political Report.

Trump’s campaign has claimed it can make a play in states considered to be in the Democratic column, including Minnesota and Virginia, as polls show the former president leading in most of the swing states.
