Rudy Giuliani and other Trump allies plead not guilty in Arizona election interference case – Washington Examiner

Rudy Giuliani has pleaded not guilty to nine felony charges for his alleged role in recruiting electors to declare that former President Donald Trump won Arizona during the 2020 election. He was one of 11 people charged by the state to plead not guilty.

The charges of conspiracy, fraud, and forgery Giuliani face come in addition to his legal troubles in Georgia, where he was one of 19 individuals indicted by a Georgia grand jury for alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in that state.

The longtime Trump attorney and ally evaded authorities’ notice to serve the Arizona indictment for over three weeks. The prolonged chase ended when state officials tracked Giuliani’s livestream data and found the former New York mayor leaving his 80th birthday celebration in Palm Beach, Florida.

Giuliani is one of 18 involved in the Arizona case alleging a “fake electors” plot, including former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

During the 2020 presidential election, the Arizona race between Trump and Joe Biden was one of the closest in the country, with the final tally showing the former president losing by fewer than 11,000 votes.

Biden’s narrow win was confirmed by a Republican-led hand count in Arizona’s most populous area, Maricopa County, which is home to more than 60% of the state’s voters.
