President Joe Biden’s demeanor at a Juneteenth concert on the White House lawn became a hot topic on social media. A video of his seemingly vacant gaze went viral, sparking a wave of ridicule and commentary.
Biden was standing between Vice President Kamala Harris and Philonise Floyd, George Floyd’s brother. As Kirk Franklin performed on a stage in front of him, Biden stood motionless with a blank stare while those standing next to him were dancing. Many people on social media took notice.
“Lights are on but no one’s home,” the Trump War Room posted on X.
“Why isn’t Biden moving?” RNC Research posted on X.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) compared it to a famous idiom about a Roman emperor, adding his own layer of criticism to the discourse.
“Just an ordinary day in the life of Joe Biden,” Lee posted on X. “While Rome was burning, Nero played the fiddle. While America was being invaded, Biden did … whatever he’s doing in this video.”
Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump 2024 presidential campaign, ridiculed the video of Biden and compared it to the effects of someone under the influence of marijuana.

“BIDEN: These edibles ain’t s***,” Cheung quipped on X. “*15 minutes later*.”
Biden’s stare comes just days after being mocked for a situation during a ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. While standing on a stage between French President Emmanuel Macron and first lady Jill Biden, the president appeared to squat in midair as if beginning to sit in a chair but then stood back up. He was reportedly trying to sit in one of the chairs behind him.
