An ad firm linked to the partnership between Anheuser-Busch and transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney laid off about 20% of its workforce, according to a report.

The firm, Captiv8, issued another round of layoffs late last month, in which it fired 30 of its employees. Though it is unclear if the fiasco with Mulvaney and Bud Light, the latter owned by Anheuser-Busch, played a role in the latest layoffs, some employees have speculated that it did, according to a report.

“I’m guessing that Dylan Mulvaney contributed,” one laid-off executive told the New York Post. “They weren’t laying people off before.”

The reported round of layoffs comes after the firm had reportedly fired 13 of its employees in July.

In the wake of the controversy caused by Bud Light’s partnership with Mulvaney, Anheuser-Busch had blamed a third-party marketer for sending a can to the influencer, with insiders claiming that Captiv8 was the marketer Anheuser-Busch was referring to. Krishna Subramanian, the CEO of Captiv8, told his staff through a video call that the latest round of layoffs was issued due to the company undergoing “reorganization,” sources told the outlet.

The controversy generated online happened in late March when Mulvaney received a can of Bud Light featuring the activist’s face to celebrate Mulvaney’s one-year anniversary of transitioning. The partnership, which was shared on Mulvaney’s social media accounts, resulted in the company undergoing multiple financial woes, with Anheuser-Busch reporting in August a drop in revenue by almost $400 million.

Amid Bud Light’s fallout, Seth Weathers has released an alternative to Bud Light called Conservative Dad’s Ultra Right beer, which he stated sold $500,000 worth of beer cans featuring the mugshot of former President Donald Trump. Weathers argued that his beer had done well financially because consumers have “had enough of the stupidity.”

Mulvaney, meanwhile, recently suggested that Bud Light create an ad featuring a transgender woman and a cowboy drinking a beer at a bar. The transgender activist suggested the tag line, “There’s room for all of us beer drinkers in this town,” for the ad.
