Can the polls get worse for President Joe Biden?
Apparently, yes.
Consider the latest from Rasmussen Reports that simply asked if Biden’s presidency so far has been a success or failure, a base test for his reelection.
The results weren’t good. Some 58% said that Biden has failed. That included 40% who called his lackluster presidency a “complete failure,” the worst choice. Another 18% called it “mostly unsuccessful.”
Most of the rest called his presidency successful, though only 9% gave the top grade of “a complete success.”
Middle-aged and older voters, those 40 and older, were the most negative, with 49% of those aged 40-64 calling Biden’s president a “complete failure” and 47% of older voters in agreement.
Partisan politics in judging Biden plays a huge role, though Democrats graded Biden harsher than Republicans graded former President Donald Trump. Among Democrats, 69% called Biden’s presidency a success. However, just 19% of Democrats told Rasmussen that Biden’s was a “complete success.”
Some 86% of Republicans gave Biden a thumbs down, while just 13% chose “mostly successful.” And no Republican surveyed gave him a rating of “complete success.”
By comparison, voters, in general, approved of Trump. Rasmussen said 56% called Trump’s presidency a success, and 22% called it a “complete success.” And 42% called it unsuccessful.

Even some Democrats agreed, with 28% calling Trump’s presidency a success, including 11% who called it a “complete success.”
Still, many surveys continue to show the general election head-to-head pretty much even. The latest Economist/YouGov survey, for example, showed a 44%-44% tie.
