Actor Antonio Sabato Jr. encouraged fellow actor Ian Ziering to leave California after the Beverly Hills 90210 star was assaulted by a gang of bikers on the street in Los Angeles.

“Hey pal, leave California asap and never look back, it is only getting worse,” Sabato said in a response to Ziering’s statement on Instagram about the incident.

“We left years ago and never been happier,” he continued. “Stay safe. Glad you walked away with your daughter safely.”

Ziering exchanged blows with cyclists after they allegedly clipped his car while on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.

A video posted on social media showed Ziering getting out of his car to confront a group of people on motorized minibikes about apparently hitting his $100,000 Mercedes GLE SUV. At least four bikers surrounded the Sharknado star during the confrontation and aggressively attacked him. Ziering defended himself punching back and was seen running across the street to get away from the mob of bikers. His 12-year-old daughter Mia was inside the vehicle and reportedly was seen crying after the bikers had heavily damaged the vehicle, shattering the windshield and the passenger side-view window.

“Yesterday, I experienced an alarming incident involving a group of individuals on mini bikes,” Ziering said in a post on Instagram. “While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation. In an attempt to assess any damage I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself.”

Ziering said the incident left him “deeply concerned about the growing boldness of such groups who disrupt public safety and peace.”

“This situation highlights a larger issue of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior,” he continued. “As a citizen and a parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behavior, causing fear and chaos, while the response from authorities seems insufficient.”

The former General Hospital star has been a vocal critic of California’s progressive policies, and he ran to represent the state’s 26th Congressional District, where he was defeated by incumbent Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA). Sabato endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2016 and later claimed that his support for the former president got him blacklisted from Hollywood. He moved to Florida in March 2020.
