AOC removes pronouns from X bio – Washington Examiner

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) removed her pronouns from her bio on X as some Democrats are assessing if some social issues may have hurt them in last week’s elections.

The congresswoman had previously listed her “she/her” pronouns at the end of her bio on the social media platform earlier this year, but as of midday Friday, she no longer has the pronouns listed.

On her Instagram profile, she continues to have her pronouns listed but as part of a setting on the platform that shows pronouns on a profile rather than as part of her written bio.

The subtle change to her X bio comes as some Democrats have called on the party to reevaluate how it handles some social issues. Rep. Seth Moulton‘s (D-MA) comments on Democrats potentially reevaluating its stance on transgender athletes in women’s sports have caused backlash from others in the party.

“I have two little girls. I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat, I’m supposed to be afraid to say that,” Moulton told the New York Times.

Ocasio-Cortez, a firebrand progressive, has also attempted to understand why Democrats have lost ground after shocking margins in some deep-blue states in the presidential race. She posted on Instagram earlier this week to ask people who split their ticket between President-elect Donald Trump and herself why they did so.

The responses that the congresswoman received ranged from the antiestablishment nature of Ocasio-Cortez and Trump to the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, among other answers.

Republicans won back control of the White House and the Senate in last week’s elections, and they held their majority in the House of Representatives.
