Apple Store sacked as crash-and-grab trend continues in Chicago area

A Chicago-area Apple Store was sacked Monday as the nationwide crash-and-grab trend continues to wreak havoc on retailers.

The incident occurred at about 6 a.m. when authorities responded to a call that a vehicle had slammed into a Naperville Apple Store, according to a report.

Identified as a beige Hyundai Elantra, the car carried at least three people who quickly entered the store and pillaged the product.

They then fled the scene with an unconfirmed number of electronics in a dark SUV, according to the report.

No injuries were reported, but the Elantra used to smash into the store is believed to have been stolen in the suburban village of Lisle, authorities said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
