Arctic Air Sweeping Through Country As Winter Temperatures Head For Millions Of Americans

Winter temperatures are expected for the Upper Midwest, Ohio Valley and Northeast next week, as the polar jet stream is expected to take a powerful dip and shoot down temperatures 10 to 20 degrees under the average for over 200 million Americans, according to the FOX Forecast Center.

The colder temperatures will also generate the chance for light to moderate snow throughout the regions starting Sunday, which would be the season’s first for many, per the forecast center. A strong low pressure area will pull the season’s coldest air from Canada and bring it into portions of the Lower 48. Cleveland, Ohio is expected to have a high temperature of 60 degrees Friday, but Monday will see the city have a hard time reaching 40 degrees, according to the forecast center.

Parts of the Southeast will also see colder weather with low temperatures forecast to be in the 30s for Monday, with cities as far down as Atlanta, Georgia and Jackson, Mississippi feeling impacts, per FOX Forecast Center.

Despite air temperatures dropping, water temperatures throughout the Great Lakes will stay warm, which will create the possibility for lake-effect snow in areas such as Cleveland; Buffalo, New York, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
