Arnold Schwarzenegger detained at German airport over his watch

Former Hollywood superstar and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger was detained at an airport in Germany on Wednesday over a watch he was traveling with.

Schwarzenegger, best known for his role in The Terminator franchise and for serving as the governor of California from 2003 to 2011, was held up at the Munich Airport because his watch was an import staying in the European Union, which Schwarzenegger needed to declare to keep. He was potentially going to auction off his watch in Austria and donate the money to the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative.

The actor was in custody at the airport for three hours, with part of the holdup stemming from how the rest of Schwarzenegger’s luggage had to be checked by security, a spokesperson told TMZ.

Another factor that held the actor up was having to prepay over $10,000 for his watch, and the airport’s credit card machine was not working. An ATM at a bank also malfunctioned, with the amount Schwarzenegger had to pay being too high for the machine.

The former California governor appeared on a podcast last year, discussing what it meant to be a Republican and a Democrat. Schwarzenegger explained that the desire for members of the Democratic Party is to “ruin your cities.”

The actor also stated last year that he hopes voters in the United States will find some “young blood” in the next presidential election, thinking it was “a little bit odd” that older people are the top candidates for 2024. Former President Donald Trump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81, are expected to become the nominees for their respective parties.
