Biden campaign touts ‘gigantic’ war chest as Republicans spend money ‘fighting one another’

Less than a year until the presidential election in November 2024, President Joe Biden is flexing his donor power and expanding his already substantial war chest as he braces for a likely rematch with former President Donald Trump.

“It’s gigantic,” Biden campaign national co-chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg told the Messenger. “Every dollar he is raising is being allocated towards November 5, 2024. On the other side, everybody else today is trying to figure out how to survive the primary gauntlet.”

Katzenberg is both the former chairman of Walt Disney Studios, a founder of DreamWorks Pictures, and a prominent Democratic fundraiser.

According to him, Biden’s recent trip to California to meet with donors brought in record contributions, noting that the Los Angeles visit itself netted more than $15 million for the campaign. This is more than the sum former President Barack Obama raised in 2012 when he made a similar trip to the area.

Katzenberg reiterated, “The trip to L.A., on every measure and metric, could not have been more successful.”

He further noted Biden’s advantage in fundraising over Republican competitors. “They’re all spending their money fighting one another while Donald Trump seems to be spending most of his money trying to stay out of jail,” he said.
