Biden’s 2024 chances mocked by media star who backed him last time

Podcast host Charlamagne tha God criticized President Joe Biden’s odds of winning the presidential election in 2024, noting that several polls have shown him losing to former President Donald Trump, who has “91 criminal charges, he’s been impeached twice, he’s got four indictments.”

“How are you losing to that guy? Like, seriously,” Charlamagne told Fox News.

Charlamagne, who boasts a large following and listener base in the black community, endorsed Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020. But he’s said he won’t be doing any such thing this time around.

However, he said this doesn’t mean he regrets his vote. “It kept Donald Trump out of the White House,” he explained.

“What I regret is endorsing them,” Charlamagne said. “They come around, and they court you, and they tell you sweet nothings and tell you all the things that you know you want to hear. But once you get in a relationship with each other, they don’t really back up a lot of those promises.”

Charlamagne’s decision not to endorse Biden’s reelection bid comes as the president continues to struggle with minority groups, who have demonstrated a lack of enthusiasm to vote for him in 2024 or to vote in general.

A new Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll of Georgia voters showed Trump beating Biden 44.7% to 36.9% in the state Biden had successfully flipped in 2020. Biden’s weakened standing against Trump in Georgia comes as black voters appear less likely to vote for him than they were last year.

In the latest poll, 58.6% of black voters said they would be supporting Biden and 20.4% planned to vote Trump. But in November 2023, Biden boasted the support of 78.4% of black voters, while just 11.7% opted to vote Trump.

“Is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris still a winnable ticket?” Charlamagne asked. “I think Republicans should be asking themselves that, too. Is Donald Trump still a winnable ticket?”

He noted that Trump is favored to beat Biden in several polls, “But I don’t know. I really, truly don’t know.”

Charlamagne also responded to a recent interview given by first lady Jill Biden, in which she said of her husband, “He can do it. And I see Joe every day. I see him out, you know, traveling around this country. I see his vigor. I see his energy. I see his passion every single day.”

“He doesn’t look full of vigor like his wife says. Not to me, anyway,” Charlamagne said.

“Personally, I don’t see that vigor. And I don’t think a lot of other Americans see that vigor anyway,” he added.

According to the podcast host, if Biden were 60 or 65, as opposed to his current 81 years old, he would win in 2024.
