President Joe Biden’s approval rating plummeted to an all-time low, according to Monday’s Monmouth University poll.
The president’s approval rating has dropped to 34 percent, a 54 percent decline since the beginning of his presidency in 2021, according to a Monmouth University poll. Biden’s approval rating has slipped 4 percent since a September Monmouth University poll as the president fails to address Americans’ concerns with the economy and immigration.
A majority of Americans, 69 percent, disapprove of how Biden has handled immigration while 68 percent disapprove of how the president has addressed inflation, the poll shows. The president’s own party is split on how he has handled immigration, with 50 percent approving and 47 percent disapproving. Democrats are more united on how they believe the president has addressed inflation, 35 percent disapprove and 62 percent approve, according to the poll.
Thirty-one percent of Americans say Biden is paying enough attention to the issues that they care about, the poll shows.
“The Biden administration keeps touting their infrastructure investments and a host of positive economic indicators,” Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, said in a press release. “Those data points may be factual, but most Americans are still smarting from higher prices caused by post-pandemic inflation. This seems to be what’s driving public opinion. There is political danger in pushing a message that basically tells people their take on their own situation is wrong.”
The Monmouth University poll reinforced the disconnect between the American people and the administration as the president touts Bidenomics. Forty-four percent of Americans are struggling financially and just 12 percent of Americans say their situation is improving. The president and his team continue to try to push Biden’s economic policies, commonly referred to as “Bidenomics.” (RELATED: Biden’s Inner Circle Is Reportedly Scrambling To Salvage ‘Bidenomics’ Messaging After Months Of Failure)
After touting the size of the country’s economy and its unemployment rate, the president previously suggested during his APEC address that Americans who are unhappy with the economy are going experiencing “disconnect.”
Vice President Kamala Harris’ approval rating remains relatively unchanged, though it still floats near Biden’s. Harris received a 35 percent approval rating in the recent Monmouth University poll. In September, the vice president’s approval rating sat at 36 percent.
The poll was conducted between Nov. 30 to Dec. 4, surveying 803 adults within the United States. The margin of error is 4.8 percentage points.
