Bill Maher suggests Biden and Nikki Haley team up for ‘unity ticket’ – Washington Examiner

Late-night host Bill Maher suggested that President Joe Biden recruit former Republican 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley as his 2024 vice presidential candidate, with the intent of forming a “unity ticket.”

Maher’s suggestion comes after Haley, the former United Nations ambassador to the United States, suspended her presidential run on Wednesday, a day after former President Donald Trump won nearly all of the Super Tuesday primary elections. Biden announced in April last year that he would be seeking reelection in 2024, and that Harris would remain as his vice president.

“I know it’s crazy to think that she could run with Biden, but that’s my dream, a unity ticket, and then he would, I think, definitely win,”  Maher said on Friday, suggesting a Biden/Haley 2024 ticket.

Maher has not shied away from giving the president advice ahead of the 2024 presidential election, suggesting last month that Biden ought to drop out during this year’s Democratic National Convention. The late-night host noted how, ahead of the 2020 election, Biden had described himself as a “bridge” for the Democratic Party, which Maher said he believed meant that Biden was referring to himself as a one-term president.

Earlier this month, Maher also suggested that Biden lean into his old age in his 2024 reelection campaign, as “nobody’s buying” that the president is “sharper than ever.”

Biden, 81, has faced growing concerns about his age and mental ability to serve as president, especially in the wake of special counsel Robert Hur’s report that described him as a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”

In suspending her presidential campaign, Haley thanked those who had supported her campaign and congratulated Trump for his performance in the Super Tuesday election, though she notably did not give her endorsement to the former president. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who suspended his 2024 presidential race in January, criticized Haley for her lack of endorsement.

Prior to Haley’s campaign suspension, No Labels’s founding chairman and national political director, Joe Cunningham, said the third party would “definitely be interested in” recruiting her as a candidate.
