Boebert slams Johnson spending deal with Democrats as ‘Pelosi-esque’

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) likened House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) spending deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to something that would have been passed under former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

An additional continuing resolution passed the House on Thursday to push the laddered deadlines for appropriations bills into March. The House voted 314-108 in favor of the measure, with over 100 Republicans opting against the deal.

Boebert, one of the members to vote against the spending measure, said in a statement the resolution “continues Nancy Pelosi’s inflationary spending and funds Joe Biden’s failed policies.”

She hit the bill to push appropriations deadlines further as “Pelosi-Esque,” referencing the former Democratic House speaker.

“Rather than reining in the Swamp and clawing back wasteful federal spending, the CR kicks the can down the road and fails to make the necessary cuts that will prevent future generations from being saddled with mountains of debt,” she claimed.

The congresswoman further called the deal “a slap in the face to every American suffering from Bidenomics.”

Boebert then claimed, “Nancy Pelosi would be proud of this reckless, bloated spending bill that ensures federal spending remains at the levels she set during her reign as Speaker.”

The new deadlines for the 12 appropriations bills are March 1 and March 8, just a week apart.
