Country singer Brad Paisley and his wife brought some Christmas cheer to families in need over the weekend, thanks to a free toy store they opened up.
The toy store was an extension of their free grocery store that provides groceries to families who need financial help, simply called “The Store.” The Christmas toy store, which allowed 400 families to pick out a variety of toys and musical instruments, was open for two days on Friday and Saturday, and was described as “a huge success.”

“We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who helped make the Toy Store a magical experience for our customers and their kids,” read a social media post from The Store. “There will be so many happy families this holiday season because of your support, and we can’t wait to make this an annual event.”
Plans for the toy store were announced by Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, in November, with the toy store modeled around the same one as its grocery store counterpart.
The Store first opened in March 2020 after a tornado that took place in Tennessee on March 3 but was only open for a few days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This led to The Store implementing home delivery and curbside pickup to help serve families, allowing it to continue to help those in need; The Store reopened to in-person shopping in July 2021.

Families who are approved to shop can do so for an entire year, during which they will not incur any charges for what they get.
The Store has open enrollment for 2024 and will select people whose household’s annual income is 200% or below the federal poverty line. Those who are approved will be able to start shopping at The Store come January 2024.
