BREAKING: 20-30 Gunshots Heard Near White House – Pool Reporters Run Inside Press Briefing Room – Gunman Deceased, One Civilian Hit in Crossfire (VIDEO)

Update: The gunman is down.

Fox News is reporting that the male gunman, who may have previously been known to DC police, brandished a pistol and fired shots toward the White House three times. Secret Service returned fire and took down the shooter.

One civilian was hit in the crossfire.

The gunman is deceased, according to the Secret Service.

President Trump is safe and no Secret Service agents were injured.

Approximately 20-30 gunshots were heard near the White House on Saturday evening shortly after President Trump announced he had “largely negotiated” a deal with Iran.

Pool reporters were told to run inside the press briefing room.

The shots were fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

ABC News White House Correspondent Selina Wang was in the middle of taping on her iPhone for a social media video when the shots were fired.

Selina Wang ducked down amid the gunfire.

“I heard about 30 shots,” DCNewsNow reporter Chris Flanagan said.

“Secret Service rushed us into press briefing room,” he said.

The White House is currently on lockdown.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the FBI is on scene and responding to shots fired near White House grounds.

“We are aware of reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW and are working to corroborate the information with personnel on the ground. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available,” the Secret Service said.

Saturday’s gunfire near the White House comes just weeks after Secret Service exchanged gunfire with an armed man near the White House.
