BREAKING: Huge Explosions Heard Across Caracas, Venezuela (VIDEOS)

Nighttime cityscape with illuminated buildings and smoke rising from the hills under a cloudy sky, indicating possible fire or explosions in the distance.
At least six strikes in the capital Caracas.

It’s happening.

A series of explosions in Caracas and other cities in Venezuela signal the start of the US campaign against the socialist regime of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.

Low-flying aircraft could be heard, as well as air raid sirens.

Bright flashes could be seen in at least six locations, including Fort Tiuna army base and La Carlota Air Base, where power outages hit some neighborhoods.

AP reported:

“At least seven explosions and low-flying aircraft were heard around 2 a.m. local time Saturday in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas.

Venezuela’s government did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

People in various neighborhoods rushed to the streets. Some could be seen in the distance from various areas of Caracas.

This comes as the U.S. military has been targeting in recent days alleged drug-smuggling boats.

On Friday, Venezuela said it was open to negotiating an agreement with the United States to combat drug trafficking. The South American country’s President Nicolás Maduro also said the U.S. wants to force a government change in Venezuela and gain access to its vast oil reserves through the monthslong pressure campaign that began with a massive military deployment to the Caribbean Sea in August.”

UPDATE: Reuters reports that U.S. ground troops are currently active in and around Caracas, Venezuela. Other sources specify US Army Delta Force landing operations in Southern Caracas.

Secondary explosions at Higuerote airport.
