BREAKING UPDATE: Suspect Who SHOT TPUSA Founder Charlie Kirk Now in Custody (VIDEO)

A suspect has been taken into custody after shots were fired at the “American Comeback Tour” event featuring conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

Videos from the scene capture a single gunshot that struck Kirk in the neck as he addressed students under a pop-up tent during a Q&A session.

Authorities arrested a suspect, who is now in custody, as investigations continue, according to an alert the university sent to students.

According to Utah Valley University, Charlie Kirk was shot from a building roughly 200 yards away from where he was speaking.

A viral video showing the suspect’s arrest is circulating on X.

Utah Senator Mike Lee posted on X: “I am tracking the situation at Utah Valley University closely. Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk and the students gathered there.”

President Trump also shared a message for Charlie Kirk, praising his courage and strength.

“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”

UPDATE: A conflicting report from Deseret News stated that the suspect is not yet in custody.

Utah Valley University spokesperson Scott Trotter confirmed in a statement:

“On September 10, 2025, at 12:20 p.m., a single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally. We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we do not know his condition. The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating. The campus is closed for the rest of the day.”
