Byron Donalds calls for Fani Willis to be disbarred amid tax money allegations

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) called for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to be disbarred over recent allegations of her connections to the special prosecutor involved in a case against former President Donald Trump.

Donalds’s comment comes after Willis has been accused of having an undisclosed relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who is overseeing the case against Trump regarding alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Donalds, who has consistently voiced his support for Trump, said that the case should be thrown out “because it is clear you have prosecutorial misconduct.”

“The Lord did not cause you to stumble into $600,000 in taxpayer money because you’re sleeping with the dude who’s the lead prosecutor,” Donalds said on The Megyn Kelly Show. “You thought you were going to get away, and so you try to get the church’s money; that’s what happened here.”

My message to Fani Willis is this:

The Lord did not cause you to stumble into $600K in taxpayer money because you’re sleeping with the lead prosecutor.

The case should be thrown out.
There’s prosecutorial misconduct.
Fani knows she’s wrong.

The Florida congressman added that Willis is in “a long line of politicians” who are attempting to “take advantage of Trump” to build up their name. He also said that Willis “did wrong” and is aware that what she did was wrong.

“Don’t go to the church now asking for prayer and forgiveness,” Donalds said. “You knowingly did it, and you got caught. She should be removed; she should be disbarred.”

Willis spoke out about the allegations at Big Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Georgia, last week, arguing she is not “perfect” and that she should be allowed grace.

Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) has also addressed the allegations, stating that they were “troubling” but that he believes the judge presiding over the case will “get to the bottom” of it. He also would not say if he would call for Willis to be removed from the case.

Judge Scott McAfee has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 15 to examine the allegations against Willis. He has also ordered Willis to submit to the court any response to the allegations by Feb. 2, according to an order filed Thursday.
