Byron Donalds calls Joe Biden the architect of ‘a disastrous economy’

Rep. Byron Donalds called President Joe Biden the architect of “a disastrous economy,” criticizing the term “Bidenomics” while expressing concern over the cost of living.
Donalds’s statement on Sunday comes as about four in 10 people in the United States believe that either the economy or the cost of living is the biggest issue the country is currently facing, according to a poll released this past week. The Florida congressman said that the issue with the economy is not the messaging of “Bidenomics,” but is “Bidenomics” in and of itself, which he said has led to everyone falling behind financially, especially for poor and middle-class people.

“And so this situation with ‘’Bidenomics’’ or whatever you want to call it, I just call it stupid economic policy, no need to put his name to it, but we can do that for politics’ sake,” Donalds said on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “Everybody has been hurting. Our economy is stagnating. Inflation is still here, still sticky, and it’s caused a problem for the way Americans live their lives day to day.”
Donalds went on to state that the economy has made it so that used cars are too expensive for the average U.S. resident to purchase, along with energy and food costs, pricing consumers out from making the purchases they need to make.
“They can call it whatever they want, but the American people understand that Joe Biden has been the architect of a disastrous economy that is hurting the very poorest among us in America,” Donalds said.

“Bidenomics” has been a major source of criticism against the president, both from Republican lawmakers and voters. Since Biden took office, Gallup has polled the president’s economy rankings 10 times, with his current rating on the economy only 1% higher than his lowest in 2022, with disapproval at 67% as of November.
The Florida congressman was also asked if voters would primary any Republican lawmakers who chose not to vote for an impeachment inquiry on Biden; Donalds said that he could not speak for his colleagues but added that anyone who voted to expel ex-Rep. George Santos should also be willing to vote for Biden’s impeachment inquiry. Donalds added that he believes the House will gain enough votes to achieve the impeachment inquiry.
