Caitlyn Jenner hints at California governor run against Harris: ‘I would destroy her’ – Washington Examiner

Trump ally and Fox News contributor Caitlyn Jenner dropped hints on what could be in store for the former Olympian, noting on X that Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) cannot seek reelection in 2026.

The hint comes after Newsom survived a recall effort against him in 2021, when Jenner was considered one of the possible candidates to run as a Republican against him. Now, in November, Jenner has suggested a 2026 gubernatorial run could be in the cards after writing, “MAKE CA GREAT AGAIN,” on X.

A person with inside knowledge of Jenner’s potential political aspirations confirmed to the Washington Examiner on the basis of anonymity that the former Olympian is fielding calls from people who want to see this gubernatorial run happen and that Jenner is taking these calls seriously.

“Should we do it again?” Jenner wrote on X. “Have been getting a lot of calls with a lot of strong opinions. Newscum is out in 2026.”

Jenner’s decision to call the California governor “Newscum” follows a term that President-elect Donald Trump coined in his 2024 presidential bid, referring to Newsom as such more than once ahead of the election.

Following Trump’s victory against Vice President Kamala Harris in the election, the vice president has reportedly spent some time contemplating her next steps in her political career, which could include either a presidential run in 2028 or a California gubernatorial run in 2026. Jenner, however, was not fazed by the latter scenario.

“If I ran, and it was ultimately against Harris, I would destroy her,” Jenner wrote on X.

Besides Harris, another Democrat who could succeed Newsom is Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), who has hinted at having an interest in the role. Porter previously ran in the 2024 primary race for California’s Senate seat but came up short behind Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Republican candidate Steve Garvey.

On the Republican side, possible candidates who have contemplated a gubernatorial run include Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco and political commentator and Fox News contributor Steve Hilton.
