Chris Christie dismisses Trump post-debate attacks: ‘I live in his head’

Former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he “lives in” Donald Trump‘s head and claimed that is the reason the former president attacked him following last night’s Republican presidential debate, which Trump declined to attend.
Christie responded to Trump’s barrage of posts about him by saying on Fox News’s Fox and Friends that Trump knows what Christie said on the debate stage was “true.”

“This guy talking about like bad nicknames? You know, look, I live in his head. He knows that what I said last night was true. That’s why he spent most of his time last night after the debate reacting to the stuff I said and attacking me. What he should be doing is getting out on the debate stage and defending his record,” Christie said.
Trump had three posts about Christie during and after the debate, including a post of an image of Christie with then-President Barack Obama in 2012 after Superstorm Sandy devastated New Jersey and an altered video of Christie at a campaign event made to look like he is at a buffet. The former president issued one statement on Truth Social about Christie, bashing the former governor’s record.
“Chris Christie is talking about the job he did as Governor. He had a 9% approval rating. N.J. wanted to throw the “bum” out. Also, I built almost 500 miles of Wall (not 50, Sloppy Chris!), got Mexico to give us 28,000 soldiers (free of charge!), and had the safest and best Border in U.S. History, with record low drugs coming in!” Trump wrote in a post.
While Christie responded to Trump’s posts about him, he also remarked how he was “encouraged” that other candidates went after Trump during the debate.
“And I was even encouraged last night to see those six people who all raised their hands and said they defended, they support a convicted felon, even a couple of them started to criticize Donald Trump as well. So we are moving the debate in that direction and he should be criticized,” Christie said.

Trump skipped the second Republican presidential debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, opting instead to speak in Michigan.
The former president remains far ahead of the other Republican candidates based on the RealClearPolitics polling average, but a recent CBS News poll showed that in New Hampshire and Iowa, only 23% and 20% of GOP voters, respectively, are only considering Trump.
