Chris Christie slams Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as hypocrite: ‘I’d be happy to be accused of anything by AOC’

Former New Jersey governor and 2024 Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as a hypocrite on Thursday, claiming he would be “happy” to be accused of anything by the progressive.

The New Yorker characterized a remark made by Christie on Wednesday night as “disgusting” and “misogynistic” after he attacked President Joe Biden for “sleeping with a member of the teachers union,” in reference to first lady Jill Biden.

“It’s disgusting, misogynistic, and if Republicans want to continue pissing off an entire nation of women, please be my guest. We’ll see you at the ballot box,” Ocasio-Cortez posted to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Christie said the comment was made because the first lady advocates the “worst” of the teachers union, and therefore the president would not take on the union. The comment came during the second Republican presidential debate in Simi Valley, California, on Wednesday night. Christie was one of seven contenders for the Republican nomination on the debate stage.

The former governor, who spent a good portion of the debate blasting former President Donald Trump, said the congresswoman could accuse him of whatever she wanted because she was a hypocrite. Ocasio-Cortez has come under fire for her far-left policies in favor of the working class, despite attending high-profile events such as the Met Gala.

“Let her accuse me of whatever she wants,” Christie told CNN. “When you look at the kind of hypocrite that she is, the kind of things that she does and lives her life as, as opposed to what comes out of her mouth. Please, I’d be happy to be accused of anything by AOC.”

Christie also claimed being called “disgusting” by the congresswoman was the “highlight” of his day.

Former Vice President Mike Pence also joked about “sleeping” with a teacher during the debate, but noted that his wife was not a member of the teachers union.
