October 11, 2023 01:25 PM
There are only 12 more days for customers of CenterState Bank to file a claim and receive part of a $2.65 million class-action settlement with the financial institution.
The settlement was reached after allegations that the bank had been charging illegal overdraft fees to customers. The bank, now known as SouthState Bank, has not admitted to any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to resolve the lawsuit.

Those eligible for the settlement include those who had a checking account with the bank and were charged certain types of overdraft fees on debit transactions from April 6, 2015, to May 31, 2020. Those who were charged fees for insufficient funds or overdrafting on automated clearing house debits or checks between Aug. 18, 2015, and Aug. 21, 2020, also qualify for the class-action settlement.
Customers of the bank who qualify for the settlement will get a prorated share of the net settlement, determined by how much they were charged in illegal fees, while class members can receive either a cash payment, account credit, or forgiveness of uncollected fees.
