Class-action settlement: Deadline for Dude Wipes customers to file claim in $9 million settlement in eight days

Dude Wipes customers have eight more days to file a claim from a $9 million class-action settlement with the company for allegedly misleading consumers about its products.

A group of customers accused the company of making them believe its wipes were “flushable” when they were not. Dude Products has denied any wrongdoing but has agreed to this settlement to avoid litigation on the matter. The deadline to file a claim in this settlement has been scheduled for Nov. 11.

An affected Dude Wipes customer must file a claim in the settlement to be eligible for a payment. People who purchased the wipes between Feb. 5, 2015, and Aug. 8, 2023, are eligible for a piece of this up to $9 million settlement.

Eligible customers who file a claim can receive up to $0.50 per product, with a maximum of five claims per household without proof of purchase and a maximum of 40 claims per household with proof of purchase. Consumers filing a claim may submit either with proof of purchase or without proof of purchase but not both.

A final approval hearing has been scheduled by the court for Nov. 16, when consumers may speak about the proposed settlement. If a customer agrees to the settlement, he or she will be bound to the terms of the agreement and will give up certain rights to file claims against the company. Further information about this settlement can be found on the website, which was authorized by the court.

Another class-action settlement with a November filing deadline is for Capital One customers after a hacker accessed millions of customers’ personal information. The deadline for affected customers to claim a piece of that settlement is Nov. 27.
