Class-action settlement: Deadline for Dude Wipes customers to file exclusion in $9 million settlement in three days

October 24, 2023 01:25 PM

There are only three more days for Dude Wipes customers to file an objection or exclusion from a $9 million class-action settlement with the company over allegations of misleading consumers.

The company was accused of making customers believe the wipes were “flushable” when they were not. Dude Products has denied any wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to avoid litigation against consumers. The exclusion and objection deadline is set for Oct. 27.

If customers who purchased the wipes between Feb. 5, 2015, and Aug. 8, 2023, want to receive a piece of the up to $9 million settlement, they have until Nov. 11 to do so.

Those who are eligible have to file a claim to be eligible for the payments from the settlement. Affected customers can claim up to $0.50 per product with a maximum of five per household without proof of purchase and up to forty per household with proof of purchase. The court says that customers may submit a claim either with proof of purchase or without proof of purchase, but not both.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 16, at which customers may speak about their thoughts about the settlement. If a customer agrees to the settlement, they will be bound to the terms of the agreement and will give up certain rights to levy claims against the company.
