House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has demanded the Treasury Department hand over suspicious financial activity reports connected to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell by Sept. 15, Fox News reported.
The Kentucky Republican sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent requesting the Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as his committee investigates what he called the “possible mismanagement” of the federal government’s investigation into Epstein and Maxwell, including circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death, according to Fox News.
“It is essential that Treasury produce to the Committee certain SARs to assist the Committee’s oversight of the federal government’s enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell,” Comer wrote in the letter, the outlet reported.

The demand follows Comer’s creation of the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets earlier this year, which requested all Epstein-related records from the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ began providing documents to the committee on Aug. 22. (RELATED: Pam Bondi Claims ‘No Knowledge’ Of Epstein Being Intel Asset — But Evidence Is Overwhelming)
Comer has also issued deposition subpoenas to several high-profile former government officials, including former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former FBI Directors Robert Mueller and James Comey, and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, according to the outlet.
Mueller was scheduled to appear before the committee Tuesday, but lawmakers withdrew the subpoena after learning he has health issues that prevent him from testifying, according to a source familiar with the investigation, the outlet reported.
Former Attorney General Bill Barr appeared before the committee last month as the first witness in the probe.
