“Trump will turn our country upside down. Please trust me: do not vote for Trump. I urge you to vote for Kamala Harris and the Democrats all the way down the line!” she wrote on social media.
The former television news anchor explained her endorsement in an Instagram video.
“There are two things that I hold near and dear to my heart. One is the truth. When I delivered the news to you, I told you the truth,” the award-winning TV newscaster said Monday.
Chung continued, “The other thing I hold near and dear to my heart: my heritage. I’m Chinese, but I’m all American too.”
“If you trusted me when I delivered the news, please believe me now. Donald Trump does not tell the truth,” she stated, adding, “He lies.”
The former co-host of CBS Evening News then claimed that Trump “created Asian hate that led to deaths.”
“He fueled Black hate. He fuels Hispanic hate. He fuels immigrant hate,” Chung said while wearing a pink jacket and purple sun visor hat in front of a small library of books.
