Date set for ‘Flagstock 2024’ honoring UNC fraternity brothers who protected US flag – Washington Examiner

The “rager” for the fraternity brothers who protected the American flag during protests at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a scheduled date.

John Noonan explained that he and fellow organizer Susan Ralston had established Pints for Patriots to organize the party, which is now scheduled for Labor Day on Sept. 2. The new date comes about a month after Noonan’s fundraiser brought in over $515,000 to throw the party, which he started to honor the fraternity brothers at UNC for protecting the American flag from pro-Palestinian protesters on campus.

“These great young guys defended our flag and created a unifying national cultural moment,” Noonan said in a statement on Monday. “Everyone in America wanted to thank these fine young patriots. On Labor Day, we will get to do just that.”

This party, titled “Flagstock 2024,” will only host guests who receive invitations, which will be issued as the date gets closer.

The party had originally been scheduled for May but was delayed due to national interest in attending. Seth Weathers, the CEO of Conservative Dad’s Ultra Right Beer, announced the delay on social media. He had intended to donate 24,000 cans of his beer to the party and has vowed to still make the donation.

Country musician John Rich also offered to throw a free concert during the party, citing how inspired he was to see the young men take time out of their day to protect the American flag. He later explained that he wanted to reward the men for their patriotism.

Both myself, my fraternity brother, and the others who protected the flag with us have received many messages of support. For this, I am truly humbled.
For me, protecting the flag was not about taking a stance within the ongoing Israel-Palestine discourse.

One of the students who protected the flag, Alex Jones, wrote a thank-you post on X for those who had given them support over their actions to protect the flag. He also said that protecting the flag had nothing to do with taking a stance or a specific side regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
