Democrats deny ‘MAGAnomics’ focus is a concession ‘Bidenomics’ is not resonating

Democrats are dismissing speculation President Joe Biden underscoring the difference between so-called Bidenomics and “MAGAnomics” is a reflection of public dissatisfaction with Biden’s economic policies.

“This election is going to be about contrast, contrasting an agenda in which you actually focus on delivering for the American people and an agenda where you just deliver for the wealthiest corporations,” Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison told reporters Monday.

DESANTIS UNDER PRESSURE TO GET OFF THE ROPES IN SECOND REPUBLICAN DEBATE

Democrats have to “educate” voters about what the party has “done to deliver for them,” Harrison added during the brief scheduled before the second Republican primary debate on Wednesday. The DNC chairman cited the American Rescue Plan coronavirus spending package and the current “manufacturing renaissance” as examples, despite polling that indicates Biden has an average 37% approval-60% disapproval concerning the economy.

“We also need to give the American people a sense of the other side,” Harrison said. “What they have failed to do in order to create and deliver more jobs, what they failed to do in order to fill potholes and to build infrastructure.”

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who also took part in the pre-Republican debate call, repeated that campaigns were designed to draw comparisons.

“How we have made the difference for America’s working families and how the Biden-Harris ticket must prevail for the good of the people and for the children,” she said. “We put people over politics.”

Biden started discussing Bidenomics and “MAGAnomics” this month during an economic address previewed in a memo by White House senior adviser Anita Dunn as former President Donald Trump remains the Republican primary front-runner.

“House Republicans have understandably been reluctant to tout the MAGAnomics Budget — but the White House is going to spend much of this fall doing it for them,” she said. “Just as the president successfully held Republicans accountable for Sen. Rick Scott’s plan to attack Medicare and Social Security, he will use today’s speech to hold House Republicans accountable for the full MAGAnomics agenda and contrast MAGAnomics with his economic vision — including proposals to make the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share while cutting taxes for working families; protect and strengthen Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; and reduce the deficit by an additional $2.5 trillion over 10 years.”
