Democrats are sounding the alarm over early voting data in Nevada, pointing to troubling signs for a Senate contest that is shaping up to be more competitive than polls have predicted.

In a surprise reveal, Republican voters held an early voting edge over Democratic voters — an almost unthinkable prospect four years ago. Democratic sources told Axios that the news is being greeted with panic by Democrats, who fear it could spell doom.

By Saturday, Republicans had cast 45,000 more votes than Democrats.

Democrats hope that the surprise outsize early show is tempered by poor turnout on Election Day. However, Republicans historically tend to vote more often on Election Day.

While a Republican victory in the state would be a promising result for former President Donald Trump, it would also be a major victory in the Senate, all but guaranteeing it would flip Republican.

Incumbent Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) has maintained a clear lead over Republican challenger Sam Brown for nearly all of the 2024 cycle, a lead that narrowed considerably in the final weeks.
