Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has arranged for a multitude of weapons and supplies to be delivered to Israel in its war against the Hamas terrorist group, continuing his support for the country as he runs his 2024 U.S. presidential election campaign.

The supplies sent to Israel by DeSantis include drones, body armor, helmets, and health supplies, all of which are being delivered by cargo planes. Florida is also working through private groups to give both weapons and ammunition to Israel, which was requested by Israel’s consul general in Miami, according to Jeremy Redfern, a spokesman for the governor’s office.

The move by DeSantis comes as he is running for president in the 2024 elections, running against other candidates in the Republican primary, including former President Donald Trump, business entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).

The conflict between Israel and Hamas, which gained new attention after the terrorist group attacked Israel on Oct. 7, leaving hundreds dead and thousands held hostage, is likely to be a major talking point among candidates in the 2024 election.

Beyond providing supplies to Israel, DeSantis has worked to bring U.S. citizens back to the United States from Israel, revealing on social media that the state’s Israel Rescue Operation has brought home almost 700 people so far. The Florida governor also stated that two planes carrying 85 pallets of supplies had arrived in Israel.

DeSantis has also been working to fight companies and events that oppose Israel, stating on Thursday that the financial service company Morningstar was placed on Florida’s List of Scrutinized Companies that Boycott Israel. DeSantis added that companies that partake in discriminating against Israel “will be held accountable.”

DeSantis’s support for Israel comes as the House of Representatives just passed a resolution affirming its support for Israel fighting against Hamas. It was the first piece of legislation the House passed in over three weeks after finding its new speaker, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA).

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated Wednesday that Israel is “getting prepared” for the ground invasion but did not specify when such an invasion would happen. He also stated that all members of Hamas are “dead men walking.”
