Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) reminded former 2024 opponent Nikki Haley that she “signed the pledge” to support the Republican nominee, which is presumptively former President Donald Trump.
DeSantis appeared on Newsmax’s The Balance on Wednesday to respond to Haley dropping out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, leaving only Trump in the running. While the Florida governor promptly endorsed Trump after he dropped out, Haley hasn’t offered her own endorsement.
“I signed the pledge, and you signed the pledge saying that you’re going to not take your ball and go home, and so I honored the pledge, and she’s going to have to make a decision about whether she wants to or not,” DeSantis said. “But the idea that somehow circumstances have changed … I think we all knew what we were doing when we did that, and you’ve got to make a judgment about whether that’s meaningful to you.”
“And so for me, I tell people, you know, if I say I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it,” DeSantis continued.
Haley said in her speech Wednesday announcing she was suspending her campaign that it was up to Trump to earn the support of people who voted for her.
“At its best, politics is about bringing people into your cause, not turning them away. And our conservative cause badly needs more people. This is now his time for choosing.”

Additionally, Trump has the endorsement of Vivek Ramaswamy, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), all former opponents in the 2024 competition.
Meanwhile, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson was the only ex-candidate to endorse Haley. The former UN ambassador now joins former Gov. Chris Christie and former Vice President Mike Pence in not issuing an endorsement yet after they dropped out respectively.
