Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) have set the date for a televised debate in November to be moderated by Fox News host Sean Hannity.

The debate will air on Nov. 30 at 9 p.m. during Hannity’s television program, according to Fox News.

The debate will last 90 minutes at a yet-to-be-announced location in Georgia.

The announcement of the debate’s date comes two days before the second Republican presidential primary debate happening on Wednesday.

It also coincides with the release of a poll by the Washington Post and ABC showing former President Donald Trump with a double-digit lead, 10 points ahead of President Joe Biden. Trump will not be at the Newsom debate or the debate this Wednesday.

While Newsom has not declared his intention to run as the Democratic nominee in 2024, rumors grow as the president slides in his job performance polling.

On Friday night, Newsom made an unexpected move in vetoing A.B. 957, which would have required a judge to remove custody of children from parents who don’t “affirm” a child’s “gender identity or gender expression.”

Newsom said he still has “a deep commitment to advancing the rights of transgender Californians” but deferred to existing laws to require courts to consider the health, safety, and welfare.

The California governor dismissed rumors about his 2024 prospects on CBS News’s 60 Minutes on Sunday. He ruled out challenging Biden for the Democratic nomination.

Newsom and DeSantis have been in a West Coast-East Coast rivalry as governors. Last year, Newsom aired a political television ad taking shots at the Florida governor and told Floridians that “freedom is under attack in your state,” encouraging Floridians to move to California.
